Women’s Support Project
The Women’s Support Project works to raise awareness of the extent, causes and effect of male violence against women, and for improved services for those affected by violence.
Our Glasgow based ‘Rights & Choices’ project is open to migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women who are socially isolated and/or have experienced violence or abuse at any time (including childhood abuse and FGM).
Key areas of work include:
Short-term befriending for women who are not accessing services or activities. This could include trips to local shops, café, local community centre, museum or library; accompanying women to one of our drop-in sessions or information days; supporting women to access health and other services.
Short courses for women, for example, health and wellbeing, confidence building, women’s rights, confidence for public speaking.
Social events and social activities, e.g. Health Information events, walks, summer outings.
Information on community learning, local community facilities and opportunities for volunteering will also be provided.
