On Friday 14th June, SEIN’s board members came together for a development day to discuss the future of the network. The day was facilitated by Joette from Animate Consulting who also ran a board governance training session for our four newest board members earlier in the week.
As well as a chance to think ahead, the day gave the opportunity for the board members to get to know each other better (little did we know we had a former midwife, geologist & aerospace engineer in our midst!). One of our newest board members, Mario, spoke with CommonSpace recently – read the article to find out more about him & his family, what brought them to Glasgow & the work he is doing in his local community.
Importantly, the day allowed the board to reflect on the outcomes of our members consultation which we ran (facilitated by Tripod: Training for Creative Social Action) in October 2018, resulting in a report drawing together the thoughts & ideas of our member groups. This helped to shape the discussions around what’s working well & the priorities for the network moving forwards.
The following strategic vision grew out of these discussions, helping to clarify our role & giving a foundation for our future planning:
Our Strategic Vision
To provide strong and responsive support for network members, who are offering important services that contribute to community integration in the south east of Glasgow.
To foster partnership and collaboration between our members which will further community integration in the south east of Glasgow.
To be a well governed organisation which:
- regularly consults with members
- supports and involves a diverse Board of Trustees
We look forward to developing SEIN in a way which deepens the support to & connections between our 60+ member groups who do such a range of vital work across the communities of the south east of Glasgow. Watch this space for more news!
A reminder to our members that our AGM will be held on Tues 10th September at 10am (this will be followed by the usual network meeting).
