What? An evening of guided bike maintenance for women & non-binary people, by women & non-binary people.

What? A day of conversation about the economy from women’s perspectives. Everyone is welcome to participate in workshops, talks and a film screening to consider how we can rethink our economy.

Women in the Woods

What? A women-only afternoon in the woods with Urban Roots, including woodland crafts, campfire cooking, mini massages (childcare is available – contact if required: 0141 613 2766).

Hidden Rhythms

Where? Glasgow Women’s Library, 23 Landressy Street G40 1BP
What? A chance to hear original songs and poetry celebrating love, joy, sadness, hope and everything that comes with life. Written and performed by young women who are often hidden, these tracks will give you a glimpse of a world too often overlooked. From party bangers to sobby ballads they showcase a wide range of experience and personalities. We want to share our stories – come and be a part of them.

Women’s Space

What? A special session of the weekly Women’s Space with Crossroads & The Dixon Community. The theme of the session will be ‘balance’ & will be exploring what we as women can do to achieve more balance in our lives. We will be having informal discussions, yoga, food and women’s choir performance.

Govanhill Suffrage Project
Govanhill Suffrage Banner & Exhibition Launch
When? Friday 8th March, 7-9pm

What? Project artist in residence Helen de Main unveils the Govanhill Suffrage banner designed and produced through workshops with Annette St Primary and Shawlands Academy pupils. The event will also launch the Govanhill Suffrage Exhibition.
Govanhill Suffrage Exhibition
When? Saturday 9th – Saturday 30th March, 12-4pm (Mon-Sat)

What? A multimedia exhibition exploring the demographic of Govanhill at that time, including the Irish, Jewish and Italian communities and the jobs working class women would have been employed in. Creative reflections on suffragettes locally; nationally and internationally, examining the importance of: direct action; law breaking; the treatment of suffragettes; links with other social justice campaigns; self-defense including the martial art jiu jitsu & how the bicycle became a symbol of women’s emancipation. The exhibition will also include a showcase of local community projects run by, with and for women giving a chance to learn about what’s going on today and what you could get involved with.
Govanhill Suffrage Street Performance, March & Women’s Bike Ride
When? Saturday 16th March, 12-4pm
Where? Victoria House, 72a Victoria Rd, G42 7AA (Bike ride starting from Bike for Good Community Hub, 509 Victoria Rd, Glasgow, G41 8BH)
What? Women performers take to the streets dressed as suffragettes making historic speeches, handing out leaflets – dropping a bomb or two, alongside a march with the Govanhill Suffrage Banner and a women’s bike ride.

When? Saturday 23rd March, 12-4pm

What? An afternoon of talks which will reflect on on the women’s suffrage movement in relation to contemporary female activism.
